Here is Yoshiaki & Kyoko's L'atypique ('Atypical') or Skin-Contact/Orange Pinot Gris. Rose gold-copper in colour, this extended skin-contact Pinot Gris has great tannin structure and flavour but is nicely integrated from its time in barrel. Delicious as ever!
Vineyard: Red Shed Vineyard
Soil: Alluvial sandy loam, well drained soil with river gravels
Viticulture: No pesticides, herbicides, system fungicides or inorganic fertilisers used
Harvest: Hand picked. 23 March 2022
Vinification: Natural yeast fermentation. Kept on skins for 27 days. No additives except for <15 mg/L sulphites added before bottling
Maturation: 11 months in French oak barrels. No new oak.
Bottling: 13 April 2023 without fining or filtration. 3268 bottles produced.
